Criterion New Writing, which is free of charge to participants, has grown from strength to strength. Since 2015, when the programme was launched, over 100 playwrights have completed the course with a number of showcased plays now in commercial development.
Applications for Criterion New Writing Courses 2027 are now open.
It is free to apply and take part.
If you wish to apply, you will need to send a single document (file name = your name) by email to [email protected]
Including: a writing CV, with the names of two referees and a short statement of 200 - 250 words explaining why you would like to take part.
Travel expenses of up to £20 per session will be available on presentation of receipts.
Each CNW Group will welcome six writers to the stage of the Criterion Theatre for a sequence of six highly focus story and script development sessions.
Please note: this programme does not provide a platform for work on pre-existing scripts. The course works best when focused on new work, one from each of the six writers in the room, with the support of the CNW team.
Actors will be present for sessions 3,4,5 and 6. Now and then we will welcome industry guests - producers, writers or directors.
Sessions run on alternate Tuesdays from 12h00 to 14h30.
